Guerilla Crochet....
How cool is this?!
I saw this on a tree in a square in Amsterdam when I was there last weekend, I have heard of people doing this 'Guerilla Crochet' before but never actually seen any in London, and it really made me smile :-)
I think there might be some rainbow striped tree warmers coming to my local area very soon.....

Oh gosh - I'm in love....
Today in my post-birthday weekend blog catch-up I came across this post on the Purl Bee blog about some tapestry kits they had in stock which were featuring the beautiful artwork of American artist Charlie Harper.
I immediately fell in love with the clean modern lines and striking use of colour in all of his prints, and I really like the sweet subject matter.
One of these prints would look perfect in my living room........ these are my favourites, although to be honest there isnt one that I have seen that I dont like!
Check out the website to see more of his fabulous work and purchase prints ;-)

Cupcake pops....
I have spent all afternoon making cupcake pops for Jon - the process was a lot longer than I thought it would be, all in all I have been doing this since 3pm and its now 11pm.....obviously a took a couple of small breaks, but i'm not even fully finished yet!
Next time I am definately buying pre-made cakes, not baking my own - even though homemade is always nicer of course.
Hopefully no-one will have seen Bakerella's beforehand so they will have nothing to compare mine to ;-)

Jersey Re-fashion dress
Here is my latest dress, its a re-fashion project inspired by this genius fellow, although my design is slightly different to his version.
I love it, so simple but so effective, reminds me of Vivienne Westwood Aglomania or All Saints style, surprisingly easy to make too, definately making more of these!

Coffee date dress update
I spent all of yesterday making this dress and on the whole I am very happy with it, apart from the bust darts, at first they were too pointy then I re-did them and the were too rounded, so I'm not sure what to do about that.....bit annoying, wont stop me wearing it though - it fits perfectly everywhere else!
Here are some (terrible) photos of the dress as it is, still need to hem it and will take better pics when i have the opportunity and a better camera!

Date with a dress.
I'm making the Coffee Date dress from Burda Style today, I just bought some black cotton twill from the amazing Fabrics Galore and I'm planning on leaving off the ruffle so I can add a massive necklace to it.
Also planning a huge leather and neoprene obi-style belt to complement it.
Lets see how long this ambitious little project takes!

Iphone case for Jess
My sister recently acquired an Iphone (am I the only person who doesnt have one?!) and wanted a case for it so it didnt get scratched, but she didnt want one of the silicon skins, and wasn't keen on any of the other options on the market, so I offered to make her one.....
I designed it to be side-opening so the headphone jack could stick up without getting in the way of the case, with a closure tab that had a pocket in it to hold her headphones.
Here are the pictures of the result, she is pretty happy with it and has even had a friend request that I make one for her too, I am yet to progress with that one but its nice to have your work appreciated by others!
The best fabric shop in London
I just want to share some of the love I feel for the best fabric shop in London.
http://fabricsgalore.co.uk
I was introduced to this wonderful treasure trove by my good friend Saron, (who gave me the lovely fabrics you see in this post - amazing present!) and I have to admit I go into a total spending frenzy every time I am there, it has the best selection of fabrics I have ever seen and the prices are unbelievably reasonable.
They stock a lot of end of line or surplus fabrics from some of the best designers, such as Paul Smith, Missoni, Liberty of London, Armani, and I have even seen some Chanel in there before!
By far my favourites are the Paul Smith shirting cottons in beautiful woven stripes and patterns from £5 a metre and Liberty Tana Lawn, baby cord and jersey in the most amazing prints from £12 a metre, this is half the price of the Liberty store and they usually have a lovely selection to choose from.
Aside from being a total wonderland for fabric lovers, the staff are so friendly and helpful and if you are buying a lot quite often they will knock a bit off the price, customer service is king here!
They do not sell anything online sadly but I think that is due to the sheer volume of stock it would take too long to update online, but it is well worth the trip to Clapham Junction and the short walk or bus ride to the shop if you are London based or visiting.

Progress in colour and thread
I am LOVING this whole Tapestry revival I find myself in this week, I cant put it down!
This is the direction that I decided to take my project in, Paul Smith-esque stripes of colour, some repeating, others random, the colour just makes my mouth water, and its so much more fun to go multi than just one large boring expanse of brown.....
